Iran again

Iranian President Comments

"Iran's hard-line president lashed out with a new outburst at Israel on Wednesday, calling the Nazi Holocaust a "myth" used as a pretext for carving out a Jewish state in the heart of the Muslim world. "

At the risk of making this an Iranian watch site (see 11/03 entry), I just have to comment on this lunatic. He also wants to move Israel to Europe. I'm assuming that he is speaking of Israel as a people since I'm not sure how exactly you move a country. I see this "man" being quite a problem in the not so far future. Politicians are quick to point out that this is how the Iranian president feels, not the people of Iran. How exactly do we know this? He was elected wasn't he? Have we polled the Iranian people? I'm guessing that's a big fat no.

What I REALLY don't get is the belief that Israel should not be where it is, or at least in close proximity. The Koran says that the Torah and the Old Scriptures are Books of Truth (I may be paraphrasing there-I'm not getting up to check). If this is the case, how can Muslims debate whether Israel should be, well, in Israel? I'm by no means an expert on the Koran, although I have read it. I plan on reading it again after I finish the Bible, maybe I'll pick up some more ideas the second time around.

Libby, I think the Iranian president is definitely worthy of one of your favorite phrases! Do I hear an "Off with his head!"?

The same could be said about us and our president, could it not?

lbbp, I'm going to have to disagree with you. Our president has very vociferous opposition. We don't hear about too much opposition coming from Iran. Now that doesn't mean that there isn't any, and I didn't mean to suggest that, but without hearing about it how can one be sure it's there?

While I think the way your language looks in print is beautiful, I can't read it so I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. I'm sorry if I offended you, the posts that you commented on are very old posts and I believe I've grown a bit in maturity since writing them. I don't agree with alot of the Iranian government's ideas, but I live in a different culture and Iran does seem to be a threatening presence in the world.

Once again, I have no idea what your comment was, but I'm not going to delete it, I just wanted you to know, in the event you checked back, that it (and the others) had not gone ignored.
