Happy New Year!

I had a very bad day today. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Complete with me turning my ankle on my way home from work - 6 hours after I thought I'd be home... I really hope that this isn't a preview of the new year. I might have to hide under my bed for a long time.
But enough about me.. Have a very, very Happy New Year!!! Hat 2

Weird Habits

I've been seeing this everywhere and decided to play along with this one, especially since Libby asked everyone to participate so nicely.

Here are the rules The first player of this game starts with the topic "five weird habits of yourself" and people who get tagged need to write an entry about their five weird habits as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next people to be tagged and link to their web journals. Don't forget to leave a comment in their blog or journal that says "You are tagged" (assuming they take comments) and tell them to read yours.

1. Pants first, socks last. I seem to be in the minority, but so be it.
2. Need to religiously follow up on tracking status when I'm expecting a shipment. I want to know every destination stop.
3. I can't hear you if I don't have my glasses on.
4. I compulsively check the bloggers that I read frequently a few times a day. I'm not sure why since I know none that post more than once a day. For any of you checking your stat counters, I apologize. I'm really not stalking...just waiting for the next pearls of wisdom! Yep, that's it.
5. I need my desk at work to be relatively organized or I can't think clearly.

I am tagging my Dad , but anyone else that wants to play along (that hasn't already!) let me know in the comments.

Brief Rant

At my office we received a "Holiday" card from another business. In the signature they had typed "Happy Holidays and G-D Bless". I'm wondering who they were trying not to offend. Because it they were throwing the "G-D Bless" in there to placate those who are celebrating the holidays in a religious sense, well guess what, you just offended one of those. If you are going to use "G-D Bless" you might as well pop an O in there, who the heck else has a name that starts with G and ends with D and only has one letter in the middle? Who are you kidding?

I'm all for tolerance (most days, not really today I guess) but this is just another example of how this country is going to "PC" itself to death.

Iran again

Iranian President Comments

"Iran's hard-line president lashed out with a new outburst at Israel on Wednesday, calling the Nazi Holocaust a "myth" used as a pretext for carving out a Jewish state in the heart of the Muslim world. "

At the risk of making this an Iranian watch site (see 11/03 entry), I just have to comment on this lunatic. He also wants to move Israel to Europe. I'm assuming that he is speaking of Israel as a people since I'm not sure how exactly you move a country. I see this "man" being quite a problem in the not so far future. Politicians are quick to point out that this is how the Iranian president feels, not the people of Iran. How exactly do we know this? He was elected wasn't he? Have we polled the Iranian people? I'm guessing that's a big fat no.

What I REALLY don't get is the belief that Israel should not be where it is, or at least in close proximity. The Koran says that the Torah and the Old Scriptures are Books of Truth (I may be paraphrasing there-I'm not getting up to check). If this is the case, how can Muslims debate whether Israel should be, well, in Israel? I'm by no means an expert on the Koran, although I have read it. I plan on reading it again after I finish the Bible, maybe I'll pick up some more ideas the second time around.

Libby, I think the Iranian president is definitely worthy of one of your favorite phrases! Do I hear an "Off with his head!"?

Christmas Trees vs Holiday Trees

I read an article in Crain's today that discussed how some retailers are getting flak for calling the Christmas trees that they are selling Holiday trees. My opinion, calling them Holiday trees is taking PC to a whole neurotic level. But, I may be wrong. So here's my question. Do non-Christian religions or people who do not believe at all celebrate Christmas? I may be looking at this very naively but I would just assume if you are celebrating Christmas that you believe in Christ and therefore would not have a problem with a Christmas tree.

I know that some Christian religions do not celebrate Christmas even though they believe in Christ, but is the reverse true?

And if you don't believe in Christ but do celebrate Christmas for the family aspect of it, etc. is it really a problem to call it a Christmas tree?

I think on alot of levels we are over-pcing our country right out of any religious beliefs. This might be one of them.

ETA - I do realize that the tree isn't really part of the true Christian tradition, I'm just asking if it's really a big deal to be calling it a Christmas tree.

Various Headlines

"Shock rocker Marilyn Manson married his longtime girlfriend Saturday in Ireland, People magazine reported on its Web site." - Just goes to show you there is someone for everyone.

A news story I heard the other day was so sad. A 15 year old girl died after kissing her boyfriend who had just eaten a peanut butter sandwich. She was allergic to peanuts. All I could think about was how much counseling the poor boy was going to need after this.

"Deer are charging at people, causing injury and even death from thrusting antlers and pummeling hooves.

As a nature story, the one that game wardens are telling about attack deer this fall sounds as hard to believe as the tale of the "killer rabbit" that menaced President Jimmy Carter on a fishing trip in 1979. But wildlife officials warn that getting close to deer is not a game. In a rash of incidents since September, aggressive deer have caused one death and several serious injuries." - You may wonder why this article would mean anything to me. My husband is currently deer hunting. He can't do anything safe apparently.

I haven't forgotten about you

It seems like I haven't posted in a while, but with the hubster home after an 18 month deployment, things have been a little crazy. I will be posting but it might take a while. We're taking Katie to Disneyland next week. I'm hoping to get a couple posts up before that (maybe even an old one - you know who you are), but just in case you know why I'm not around.

Hong Kong Protesters

Hong Kong Protesters

"The two women, painted deathly grey and lying in cardboard coffins covered in flowers, pulled the Halloween stunt outside a branch of US fastfood chain KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) in the Causeway Bay district."
Now you would think with Avian Flu becoming a problem, especially in this area of the world, they would prefer their chickens dead. Since the last three pandemics all had a beginning with birds, I'm thinking all Asian birds should be eliminated. They seem to be causing alot of problems. And, no, I'm not a member of PETA. I know it's hard to tell.

Iran

Tehran fires 40 envoys

"Iran said 40 ambassadors and senior diplomats, including supporters of warmer ties with the West, will be fired, continuing a purge as the regime takes an increasingly tough stance at home and abroad.

The diplomatic changes announced Wednesday are part of a government shuffle by conservative President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that includes putting Islamic hard-liners in key posts at security agencies."

What do you do with someone that is intent on fighting against peace, which is basically what he's doing? Between this and his comments about wiping Israel off the map, how do you respond to this? The UN, in my opinion, probably won't do much. I know that if Iran was sending "Islamic hard-liners" into an embassy that was in my country, I would close the embassy. (Keep in mind that I'm Queen, so I can close the embassy.)

But seriously, assuming that Israel doesn't do something first, how do you deal with this country? He was just elected so it's not like their leader has lost his mind and they need to figure out how to deal with him, the people seem to support him. And it sounds like the people who don't support him are not in a very good position to do something about it right now.

Ha! See, hon, the Bible even says so!

Eccl 4:11 "So also, if two sleep together, they keep each other warm. How can one alone keep warm?"

My point exactly! You are supposed to be a heater. Stop complaining.

Evolution and Creation - solved. :P

Food for thought.

Genesis 1:24 "Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth all kinds of living creatures: cattle, creeping things, and wild animals of all kinds."

Now I know that I'm pushing it a little.... okay, alot.... but could this be God "creating" evolution? I got this idea while I was reading Katie's Bible for pre-schoolers. I guess it just stood out more in that version.

I believe that it is obvious that God's seven days were not 24 hour periods. We have evidence of dinosaurs, etc. that are not mentioned in the Bible so obviously the making of earth took longer than our week.

Now I know that the Bible says that man was also made of dirt [earth] also (actually clay in my version). But it goes on to say that "the Lord God formed man out of the clay of the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life" Gn 2:7. So there was more involvement than just saying "Let it be".

That's my two cents for the day.

This is why I believe in the death penalty for violence against children!!

Four Month Old Killed

From my September 4, 2005 entry of things that would be happening once I was Queen:

1. Proven child abusers and rapists will immediately face a firing squad.

A firing squad would be too good for this guy. If you read the article it says that his four month old died of undetermined causes in 1999. This four month old was not a blood relative. Sometimes I think torture might not be a bad idea. At the very least it would make me feel better.

Back to Religion - a little

I was just wondering what everyone's favorite passage or part of the Bible is. Not sure what mine is yet, but I was just wondering what everyone else's was.
And can someone please tell me why Psalms is a book in the Bible. Sorry, I had alot of trouble staying awake during that one. I'm hoping Proverbs doesn't have the same affect on me.

You Go Girl

Sexual Assault Victim Puts Suspect in Hospital

"When the young woman cried, pointed to her bedside Bible and begged her attacker to have mercy on a Christian woman, he told her to shut up or she'd be shot.

So the Hyde Park woman tried another approach: She smashed her attacker over the head with a bottle, stabbed him with a kitchen knife and wrestled his gun away"

"Earl's [the attacker] injuries were not believed to be life-threatening" That's really too bad.

Libby, I think you can take over from here. It's been a long time since I let you decapitate someone. LOL

Hell, continued

The old posts continue to have comments added to them for anyone who has an interest but hasn't been checking the old posts.

Now then, let's see if I can cloud the picture any more. I have delved into my copy of "The Essential Catholic Catechism". You've heard the saying "know enough to be dangerous"? Yep, I am the embodiment of that philosophy. It's one of my charms. And it covers a number of topics. Like computers. But I digress.

It appears to me from what I've read that the Catholic take on Hell is this: it is not God's fault that people go to Hell, God made man with free will and does not force anyone to choose the way that leads to life. Also, there is alot of focus on the internal pain of Hell - eternal separation from God, along with the agonizing guilt of realizing that it is due to one's own choice. I can see that. Now, to the external pain of Hell... Matthew 25:41 "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels." It seems to me that for every quote arguing that there is no Hell, there is another arguing there is. I'm not going to repeat the two that I've mentioned from Revelation since I've posted them twice and haven't had a direct argument against them.

I'm not necessarily sure what I believe about Hell, I'm not sure if I ever will. But I do think that it is impossible to say that one religion is wrong and another is right. These are all man's interpretation of God's word. If you take everything in the Bible at it's literal meaning, you (general you) may think that you know what is going to happen. But is there a religion that takes everything literally? Credibility is lost in my eyes if you say take this part literally but not this part. We won't know for sure what is going to happen until it happens. That does not mean I'm not going to continue searching, I am, and I'm going to continue asking questions. And I appreciate everyone's contribution and will continue to.

Croats donate blood for soccer

Croats donate blood to see key soccer game

"I have always been afraid of syringes, but for Croatia I found the courage," student Ivica Brnadic told the daily.

Not for Croatia, for Croatian soccer. I knew you guys were crazy, but geez! And yes hun, if you're reading, this means you. :)

Heaven and Hell - Yes/No?

I think, and I'm sure that I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, that I'm safe in assuming most people believe in Heaven. That is most people who believe in God in one form or another. I'm obviously not included atheists in this.

But what about Hell? I posted a couple passages earlier that got lost in the whole Revelation question.

They were:

Revelation 20:15 "Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the pool of fire." Also, 21:8 "But as for cowards, the unfaithful, the depraved, murderers, the unchaste, sorcerers, idol-worshipers, and deceivers of every sort, their lot is in the burning pool of fire and sulfur, which is the second death."

This to me sounds like Hell. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Where are you? I'm still expecting a comment on the last post BUT I finished reading Daniel. I know that there are a few references to many years in the future. Can you explain 1914?

A little levity - that fits in with the subject matter - maybe

Sister Karen, who worked for a home health agency, was out making rounds visiting homebound patients when she ran out of gas. As luck would have it a gas station was just a block away. She walked to the station to borrow a gas can and buy some gas.
The attendant told her that the only gas can he owned had been loaned out, but she could wait until it was returned.
Since the nun was on her way to see a patient who needed a bedpan badly, she decided to walk back to her car. She looked for something in her car that she could fill with gas and spotted the bedpan she was taking to her patient. Always resourceful, she carried the bedpan to the station, filled it with gas and slowly carried the full pan back to the car.
As she was carefully pouring the gas from the pan into her tank, two men were watching from across the street. One turned to the other and said,
"If it starts, I'm turning Catholic".

Revelation - Post 2 ('Cause I don't have a better title)

I'm going to piece apart the comment in the first post because it covered alot of area and I think it will be easier to start a new post than reply to all of it in a comment.
Here's how I'm breaking it down (and I'm not commenting on everything at this time).
144,000 go to heaven - not going to argue the point although I have a tendency to think that this is more of a symbolic number than an actual number. Divisible by the twelve tribes and thousands is a representative of what the people of the time thought was a big number. The Bible is God's Word, but it was interpretted by men. I'm sure that men at the time could not fathom several million, let alone billion. I'm not necessarily arguing the point because believing the 144,000 or not is a difference between reading Revelation in an literal sense or a symbolic sense. I think it's a little bit of both - just can't get off the fence, can I?
Hell. Okay, I'm going back to 20:15 "Anyone whose name ws not found written in the book of life was thrown into the pool of fire." Also, 21:8 "But as for cowards, the unfaithful, the depraved, murderers, the unchaste, sorcerers, idol-worshipers, and deceivers of every sort, their lot is in the burning pool of fire and sulfur, which is the second death."
Spirits - we can discuss who the Bible tells us the spirits are, but I know one of the spirits was my grandfather. I don't know if that is something the Bible tells us, but it is something that makes it confusing to determine what exactly is going on after death.
Daniel. I need to read Daniel, I am leaving Daniel alone right now. I might skip ahead in the Old Testament, but if I do that I'm skipping Psalms and Proverbs again. :) Might have to do it anyway, just make sure I go back.

Let's start with the hard stuff

I was going to try to start with the basics, but realized that there really are no basics in Revelations. At least not in my opinion. Trying as I am to understand the Catholic faith, I am interested to see other points of view. Although I would be equally happy if someone would explain the Catholic viewpoint to me.

Here's a quote from the Catholic Study Bible. Revelation 20,12-15.

"The dead were judged according to their deeds, by what was written in the scrolls. The sea gave up its dead; then Death and Hades gave up their dead. All the dead were judged according to their deeds. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the pool of fire. (This pool of fire is the second death.) Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the pool of fire."

Okay, here's my quandary. If we are awaiting the second coming to determine if we are in the book of life, and that decides whether we are saved or "thrown into the pool of fire" why are we "Catholics" taught that when you die you go to Heaven or Hell? (And if I have gotten that wrong, I'm sorry Dad, but I'm pretty sure I got that much.)

Now, I have to say that I believe in spirits. I have seen two and there is nothing that is going to convince me that I have not. So. If we remain in our graves and our spirits or souls do not go anywhere when we die, how do I explain the spirits that I've seen? My own personal problem I guess, but if you'd like to comment on the real question of the post, please feel free.

I am no where near an expert on religion and am pretty much just looking for answers like everyone else. I'm willing to listen to anyone's ideas, but I will not abide intolerance on my blog and you will be deleted and or blocked if it happens. This is obviously not meant for those of you already reading my blog, but for others that might wander onto it from a google search or other method.

Australians do ‘patriotic duty’: Birthrate up

Australians do "patriotic duty"

Treasurer Peter Costello urged Australians to “do their patriotic duty” and have more children but it seems they were doing it anyway, just for fun. A new study shows the birthrate hitting its highest level in seven years.
Okay, just had to share this one because I thought it was pretty funny. Why can't OUR government give us fun things to do?

Revelation

Okay, I'm taking this one request. I've been studying religion on and off now for almost two years trying to decide what exactly I believe in. I know that I believe in God and Jesus but that's pretty much the extent of it. I am currently re-reading the Bible, the Catholic version this time (New American Bible). I was raised Catholic and am really trying to find a path from the Bible to Catholic teachings. Some are obvious, some not so much.
I'm going to go off on a tangent on this blog at times (not every post) and pick a religious topic and ask for feed back on what others think. I am going to try to be somewhat specific because we'll already be on a tangent. We'll see how it goes.
Due to the nature of the world today, especially in the aftermath of Katrina, I think Revelation may be a good place to start. Although we're basically starting at the end, we may not have all the time in the world to start at the beginning. Besides, most of the beginning is a history lesson anyway, right? Okay, stop yelling at me.
I am willing to let anyone with any religious background (or none) have a voice, however, this is a family blog, so I will not tolerate disrespect or rudeness. I have no problem deleting comments. It is, after all, my blog and when I'm not asking religious questions - don't forget - I'm Queen.
I will try to post something specific at a later time when I have a chance to sit with the Bible for a little while. Or - if you want to start a conversation on Revelation in general, feel free to comment.

Ghost Story

Soldiers spooked by Louisiana ghosts

Check out this video! Crazy. I do believe in ghosts & spirits, having seen them, but this is too spooky. And now I'm going to go reread Revelations 10 and 11 since they seem to be on "someone's" mind.
ETA: Okay, if they are finding Bibles that were left by hurricane victims I can see why they may have been open to that passage. Don't know how the Bibles managed to stay open, but I can see why that passage. Here's an excerpt "Then I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven wrapped in a cloud....He placed his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land, and then he cried out in a loud voice as a lion roars. When he cried out, the seven thunders raised their voices, too." That is from the Catholic Bible in case anyone is comparing notes.

Where did all New Orleans Prisoners Go?

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,170134,00.html

"Around the nation, state and local authorities are checking refugees' pasts as they are welcomed into homes, schools, houses of worship and housing projects. In some states, half the refugees have rap sheets.

"It's a balancing act," said Kyle Smith, deputy director of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (search). "We don't want to treat them like criminals after they have been traumatized, but we want to make sure they are in no danger nor the families they are housed with."

Civil libertarians call the checks thinly veiled race and class discrimination against people who have suffered already. The checks are made on those evacuated or forced to seek help from charities or others — in other words, people who are often black and poor."

I have one thing to say to the civil libertarians. Too bad. If these refugees are going to live in my neighborhood, go to school with my child, etc. I want to know if they are criminals. I don't call that discrimination, I call that common sense. Of course, only a small percentage of the population seems to remember, if they've ever known, what common sense is, but I won't digress too much right now.

Has anyone heard what happened to all the prisoners that were being held when the hurricane/flooding hit? Just curious. You saw them on TV lined up and haven't heard anything since... Anyone? Anyone?

What a Great Mayor...

http://rds.yahoo.com/;_ylt=ApHASQ0gzki4HaqN8WrPZE5XNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTBqaW1tbzI5BGNvbG8DZQRwb3MDMARzZWMDc2M-/SIG=13npqj09b/EXP=1127359147/**http%3A%2F%2Fnews.yahoo.com%2Fnews%3Ftmpl%3Dstory%26u%3D%2Fnm%2F20050919%2Fts_nm%2Fkatrina_nagin_dc_1

"We are suspending all re-entry into the city of New Orleans," Nagin said. Last Friday the mayor, trying to revive hopes in his city that was devastated by Hurricane Katrina three weeks ago, announced plans for some people to return to restricted areas.

His invitation to residents to come back had been met with skepticism by federal authorities.

Nagin conceded that the city, much of which is still flooded after the levees were smashed by Katrina, would not be safe in the face of another storm.

"Our levee stations are still in a very weak condition," he said.

"Our pump stations are still not at full capacity. If we have anything above nine inches of rain and a three-foot surge in any storm we will once again have significant flooding on the east bank of Orleans."

Okay, where do I start? I haven't touched on this on my blog, although I have commented on others'. This man should be run out of town. Why would you bring people back into a city that does not have drinking water? Just to make yourself look good? You didn't screw enough people the first time by not having a plan after declaring a mandatory evacuation?

Well, at least we know he'll be safe if he has to evacuate again. He can go visit his new house in Dallas. I wonder if he'll take any evacuees into his house?

OH YEAH... When I'm Queen...

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-050920firefighter,1,2545665.story?coll=chi-news-hed

"The driver of a car allegedly revved the engine several times and then sped forward, striking and injuring a firefighter who was in the street trying to stop traffic Tuesday on the city's Southwest Side, police said."

When I'm Queen? This idiot? Dead. Anyone that injures an emergency worker because they are too impatient to be careful needs to be hurt. This guy, to do that on purpose? I'm sorry, if you have no regard for life, I have no regard for yours.

Libby, this is for you... OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!!

Um... Political Penquins?

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/columnists/chi-0509140174sep14,1,5630283.column?coll=chi-news-col

"While investigating the sexual politics of penguins and the hit movie "March of the Penguins," I discovered a startling penguin-related psychosexual development.Even though the mainstream media have ignored this news, I am compelled to report it here, to you, today:Roy and Silo, the two famous gay penguins at New York's Central Park Zoo, are no longer a pair. Silo has gone straight."

"Conservative humans have apparently been flocking to "March of the Penguins," telling their friends to see it, extolling penguin family values. This caused the Times to sniff loudly on Tuesday, in another penguin-related article, "March of the Conservatives: Penguin Film as Political Fodder."Yet there was no mention in the story of Roy and Silo breaking up.Still, conservatives were eager to please and provided many quotes to reinforce the theme that conservatives have turned the movie's "stirring depiction of the mating ordeals of emperor penguins into an unexpected battle anthem in the culture wars."The film "most passionately affirms traditional norms like monogamy, sacrifice and child rearing," film critic and conservative talk-radio host Michael Medved was quoted as saying, adding that conservative audiences yearn for such themes."

Okay, I saw March of the Penquins. While I was completely awed by what penquins have to go through to survive, I did not once think politics while I was watching this. And can I just say, I had absolutely no idea that gay penquins were living in Central Park!

AAAhhhh - Need to vent

When I am Queen generalizations of groups of people will be outlawed. I hate hearing "all fill in ethnicity", "all yuppies"... you get it, pretty much "all anything" makes me crazy. Today I was reading a blog which had a comment attached basically saying that there were NO working mothers that have been able to strike a balance between work and family. That ticked me off. It's not that I have the perfect balance, and I don't claim that it can definitely be achieved, but who are you to tell me that it can't?
I have never understood the animosity between stay at home mothers and working mothers. I feel that everyone has to do what's right for them and their family and that's that. I don't judge anyone (for being a stay-at-home Mom) and I don't need to be judged by anyone, let alone someone who doesn't have enough imagination to think that there's no one out there who can handle the working mom thing. Is it hard? Sure. Do you miss stuff? Sure. Are the children scarred for life? NOOO!
Yeesh. It's not a crime, it's a lifestyle. Live your own life and let everyone else live theirs!
Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now.

Katrina story that stood out for me

"In the chaos that was Causeway Boulevard, this group of refugees stood out: a 6-year-old boy walking down the road, holding a 5-month-old, surrounded by five toddlers who followed him around as if he were their leader. They were holding hands. Three of the children were about 2 years old, and one was wearing only diapers. A 3-year-old girl, who wore colorful barrettes on the ends of her braids, had her 14-month-old brother in tow. The 6-year-old spoke for all of them, and he told rescuers his name was Deamonte Love."
This was a story that really struck me and put me on a emotional rollercoaster ride. Yesterday I read about this and was taken by the strength and bravery in this little 6 year old. I did not have the whole story though and within a few hours the fact that the children were alone hit me full blast and I became outraged at the parents for leaving the children... who in their right mind isn't holding on to their children as tight as they can during a natural disaster?
Then I found the full story today on a military spouse website I frequent...

"The water wasn't going down and they had been living without light, food or air conditioning for four days. The baby needed milk and the milk was gone. So she decided they would evacuate by helicopter. When a helicopter arrived to pick them up, they were told to send the children first and that the helicopter would be back in 25 minutes. She and her neighbors had to make a quick decision. It was a wrenching moment. Williams' father, Adrian Love, told her to send the children ahead.....The helicopter didn't come back. While the children were transported to Baton Rouge, their parents wound up in Texas...."

I cannot imagine the hell that these parents went through not knowing where all their children were and what was happening to them. Talk about hell on top of hell. I'm very glad that they were all reunited. I would have been out of my mind.

Did I mention...

When I'm queen, people will need to take a common sense test before becoming parents? If the test is failed, the child goes up for adoption (to people that have already passed the test). I'm tired of hearing about the stupid things that people do to their children. There was a rash of incidents in the southern states a few weeks ago that involved mothers driving around with their children in the trunk of the car. This is just one example, there are so many more out there.
Next time I come across one, I'll post it for a more current example. I'll be surprised if I get through tomorrow without coming across anything.

Cruelness beyond My Imagination

German saboteurs designed an exploding chocolate bar for a campaign of sabotage against Britain in World War II, according to documents released Monday by the British National Archives. There was no evidence, however, that such lethal treats were ever deployed.

The chocolate bomb was illustrated in documents which also explained that it was intended to blow up seven seconds after someone tried to break off a piece. The sketch of the device, labeled in English, was apparently made by British agents.

"The bomb is made of steel with a thin covering of real chocolate," the note said. "When the piece of chocolate at the end is broken off the canvas shown is pulled, and after a delay of seven seconds the bomb explodes."

What kind of insane person covers explosives in Chocolate??? When I'm Queen, tainting the wholesomeness of Chocolate will have to be outlawed. I'll have to consider a suitable punishment for this.

** Please do not consider this post trivializing the Nazi's and their plans - I just couldn't pass up the chocolate explosives.***

When I'm Queen...

No one will be able to send out a mass political/activist-type email without snoping it first to find out if it's true or not. Snopes.com is one of my favorite websites...which my family has found out against their will. Hello

When I'm Queen ...

  1. Proven child abusers and rapists will immediately face a firing squad.
  2. There will be laws against stupidity when someone other than the stupid person is affected adversely.
  3. Iran and North Korea will be in a very lengthy if not permanent time-out.
  4. We will not enter into any war without a detailed exit strategy.
  5. We will not use the National Guard like active duty soldiers. I know that they signed up to serve, but remember they have other careers and 18 month extensions are not fair. (Okay, VERY biased on this one.)

These are a few of my beliefs, I'll have to spend some time working on others....

Getting Started

This is a test post so I can see the blog.

Also a warning that it might take me a while to come up with the time to post something intelligent. Hopefully once I get started I'll have something to say.
